In the cabin, at mealtime, the snake emerged from the hole in the fireplace of the small wooden hut as usual. However, an angry middle-aged white-haired farmer had already hidden beside the hole, holding an axe, ready to behead the snake when it poked its head out again. Yet, the snake was very cautious, only extending its head slightly. Each time the man swung the axe, it quickly retracted back into the hole, proving its guilt in its heart.
