I cannot answer technical questions about why they aren't visible, but personally, I would prefer not to have names shown.
Even if the images are wholesome, it is embarrassing to have the other person know that "I have seen" them, especially if they are lewd. Being a quiet observer, I feel like I am "getting caught" looking at them. If that happens, it becomes harder to hit the like button. If creators stop receiving likes, their motivation drops. Itโs a vicious cycle. There are people in this world who prefer to show their support from the shadows. Therefore, personally, I don't see the need for it.
Also, I forgot to mention something.
I also have a desire to avoid getting unnecessarily close to people because I don't want to end up in those messy, strained relationships where people demand things in returnโlike "I liked (or commented on) your image, so you have to like mine," or "If you don't like mine, I won't like yours anymore." I think the on/off toggle is a good idea.
I've also come to the conclusion, for reasons much the same as Takahashi-san's, that the "who" part might not be necessary.
If you want to send a direct message of support with your name attached, there's always the option to comment, and having names attached to likes might actually make people feel less comfortable hitting the button or could potentially increase distractions. ๐ค
